Leora Hunter Pace CLEARFIELD – Leora Hunter Pace passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 24, 2007 with her husband at her side. Leora was born March 12, 1917, in Cedar City, Utah to George and Leona Hunter. She graduated from Cedar City High School and attended Southern Utah State College for two years. She was active in student affairs and affiliated with Alpha Beta Sorority. She then attended Utah State University where she was also very active. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Leora graduated from Utah State with a degree in Elementary Education. In 1941, she married Anthony (Tony) Pace her beloved husband. They were married for 65 years and will be together forever. Leora had a unique impact on all who knew her. She had a love for the National parks in Southern Utah, especially Zion, where she worked for many summers. She taught elementary school, mostly 2nd grade, in Davis County for 30 years. She loved her profession and had a tremendous influence on all of her students. Leora was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the Primary and the library for many years. She was devoted to her beloved husband, Tony, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be remembered for her great love of people, her sense of humor, her quiet strength, and for being a friend to all. Leora was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers. She is survived by her husband Tony, children David (Jodi) Pace, Sherry McMullin and brother Sheldon (Ruth) Hunter, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Clearfield 2nd Ward (New Chapel), 1175 E. 1245 So. Friends and family may call Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the chapel. Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery. Funeral directors, Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. The family wishes to express their great appreciation to the hospice nurses: Troy, Heidi, Queenie, Hannah and April, who gave her such tender care.
