LeRoy Dale Johnson
March 26, 1931 ~ April 6, 2017
LeRoy Dale Johnson, 86, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017. He was born on March 26, 1931 in Ogden, Utah, the son of LeRoy Edwin and Martha LaVon Green Johnson.
Dale graduated from Ogden High School and attended Weber College. While there, he was called to serve an LDS mission to the Northwestern States, but Uncle Sam had other plans. As a result, he was drafted into the US Army during the Korean War and was stationed in Japan from 1951 to 1953. While serving, he received Korean and United Nations Service medals. After the war, he returned home to his sweetheart, Shirley Corkey. They were married on August 27, 1954 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and shared 61 wonderful years together. Shirley passed away on April 14, 2016.
Dale continued his education and graduated from Utah State University in 1959. He worked as an accountant at Hill Air Force Base and retired after 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping, photography, and was President of the Ogden Color Camera Club. He also enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and volunteered at the Ogden LDS Temple for 14.5 years.
Dad was loved by all and known as the sweetest, kindest, nicest man. He never complained or wanted to be a burden to anyone. His family was his world and he always wanted to know how everyone was, including the family pets.
Dale is survived by his children: Debbie (Mark) White, Curtis (Kathy) Johnson, Tami Hull; 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Shirley; his parents and sister, Carol Ann Flitton.
