Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend, Leslie A. Cole, 93, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 25, 2013 surrounded by his family. Leslie was born on March 14, 1920, the oldest of three children to Charles and Maude Cole. His two younger siblings are Barbara Phillips and Merlin Cole.
Leslie married Evelyn Saunders on September 14, 1943. They had ten children, 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Dad gave all ten kids his gift of humor.
He served in the US Air Force during the Korean War and WWII. He worked at Hill Air Force Base for 41 years as a mechanical engineer. He enjoyed gardening and always had the most beautiful garden on the block. He was always building or creating something and enjoyed photography, was a published poet, and enjoyed working on family history. He was an open book of interesting stories of the past.
Leslie is survived by his children, Jim (Marlene) Cole, Karen (Randy) Judkins, Rick Cole, Mike Cole, Joyce (Tom) Sparks, John (Teresa) Cole, Carol (Kelly) Hadley, Scott (Keri) Cole, Jeff (Julia) Cole, and Lynda (Val) Swenson; his 28 grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; his brother, Merlin (Jody) Cole, and sister, Barbara Phillips.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 30, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Legacy Village for their wonderful care and support. A special thank you to Aspire Hospice and Home Care for their care and compassion especially his nurse Belinda Adolfsen.
