A special man left this world on November 30, 2014. Our father, Lester Bernard Morton, was born August 11, 1925 in his parent’s home on 200 North in Kaysville, Utah. His parents were Mattie A. Hamblin and Bernard Morton. He spent his childhood in Kaysville and graduated from Davis High School. He served in the Navy and when the war ended, he married our mother, Rita Mann on May 28, 1947 in the Salt Lake Temple. They built their home on 300 North in Kaysville where they raised their family and spent the rest of their lives. Our father worked as an engineer at Hill Air Force Base, retiring in 1980. There was nothing he could not fix, and was always working on a project. He loved his children and grandchildren and seemed to always come to the rescue. His heart was broken when our mother died in March of 1989. He missed her terribly and could tell you how many years, months, and days she had been gone. He is finished counting! He was reunited with our mother, our two brothers Kelly and Leslie, his parents, his brother Don, and sisters Melba Monson and June Sparks.
He will be truly missed by his son Scott (Sarah), Kearns, UT; daughters Patricia (Kent) Beecher, Hurricane, UT, Shirlee, Kaysville, UT, Laurie (Kevin) Criddle, Kaysville, UT; his sister Elaine Higley, Burley, ID, and brother Jerry, Kimberly, ID. He has eighteen grandchildren who love him dearly and lots of great-grandchildren with more on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at Kaysville Tabernacle, 198 W. Center Street. Friends may visit with family from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 3 at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the service at the Tabernacle.
