Lewis L. Riggs III

ROY a€" Lewis Leo Riggs, III, 65, died Wednesday, March 26, 2008 at McKay-Dee Hospital.

He was born January 22, 1943 in McMinnville, Oregon, a son of Lewis L. Jr. and Doris Jane LaRose Riggs.

On June 19, 1978, Lewis married Patricia JoAnn Boyle in Reno, Nevada.

He proudly served his country with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He worked for ATK Thiokol for 25 years.

Lewis was class treasurer for Chemekata Community College. He was a proud tribal member of the Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde, and looked forward to going to the Pow Wow at Grand Ronde and seeing all his family and friends each year. Lewis loved his children and grandchildren dearly, although sometimes it wasn''t easy for him to tell them.

Surviving are his wife Patricia of Roy; his children, Lewis L. IV (Suzie) Riggs, Salem, OR; Paul R. Riggs, Chicago, IL; Leslie A. Riggs, Salem, OR; Robert J.(Angela) Illum, Ogden, UT; Jody M. Flinn, Riverdale; Amanda Rose Riggs, Roy; and six grandchildren, Lewis L. Riggs V, Cameron A. Riggs, Austin D. Flinn, Kody M. Flinn, Christian O. Illum and McKinley L. Illum.

Also surviving are four sisters and one brother, Francis Byars and Louise (Duane) Coulson, both of Grand Ronde, OR; Georgene (Terry) Gray, and Una Birchum, both of Salem, OR; and David Riggs, Salem, OR.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Cremation under the direction of Lindquist''s Crematory.
