“Doc” Lewis Dale Taylor
FARR WEST- Lewis Dale Taylor passed on December 18, 2011 at Mckay Dee Hospital. He was born March 20, 1926 in Riverdale, son of Arthur Taylor and Claudia Hall Taylor, but was raised and lived his entire life in Farr West. He was educated in Weber County Schools and graduated from Weber High School.
He married Faye Atkinson January 26, 1949 in Ogden, Utah.
Lewis was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served his country in WWII in the US Navy and served on the USS Commencement Bay and retired after 30 years of service as a Chief Petty Officer with the Seabees. He retired from Defense Depot Ogden after 39 and a half years, as an equipment operator and supervisor.
Doc could always be found driving his tractor on his property or up and down the road. He had a very special relationship with his grandchildren Jamie, Chad, and Tyler. Doc and Faye raised Jamie and Chad Taylor.
He was an avid sports fan of basketball, football, and baseball. He always looked forward to the next big horse bet. He loved his country and was very patriotic.
He is survived by his wife Faye Taylor, son Brad (Janet) Taylor, daughter, Gaylynn (John) Hamlen, grandchildren; Stacy Awadh, Brent Houlden, Megan Curtiss, Tyler Hamlen, Jamie Ellis, Chad Taylor, eleven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son Lewis Brent Taylor, one great-grandson Jaden Ellis, sister, Merle Maughn
Funeral services will be held on Thursday December 22, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary 2140 North Washington Blvd., Family will meet with friends on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Ogden.
