Lila Edith Butler Bingham,
May 7, 1929 ~ February 9, 2019
Lila Edith Butler Bingham returned to the loving arms of her Father in Heaven and was reunited with her eternal soul mate on February 9, 2019, she was 89-years-old. She was surrounded by family at the time of her passing. Lila was the third of nine children born on May 7, 1929, to Howard Leland Butler and Sarah Perkins Butler in Marriott, UT; she was born in the family home.
She grew up in Marriott and on the family farm in Corrine, UT where they ice-skated on the frozen swamp and it was said at an early age she swore like a sailor. In 1945, the family sold the farm and moved to Washington Terrace, UT. She attended school in Weber County graduating from Weber High school where she participated in the school choir.
After graduating from high school she met the love of her life, Kenneth David Bingham, and they were married for time and all eternality in the Logan, Utah LDS Temple on June 15, 1948. They began their life together in Ogden but moved to Washington Terrace where they raised their five children and lived together for the next 60 years until Ken passed away in January 2007.
Lila was an active member of the LDS Church where she served in many calling including in the Young Women’s but especially enjoyed singing in the choir and served as the ward chorister for many years. Singing and music was a joy to Lila’s life and she sang for many years with her sisters at church and other functions. She also sang in various community choirs.
Lila also enjoyed working in her garden. Lila was a stay at home mom for much of her life but worked early on at Continental Bakery and the TB Hospital in Ogden. She was best known as the manager of a local McDonald’s where she worked for many years later in life but her time at Labelle’s/Best was the source of much amusement to the family. Lila loved to bake and her fresh bread and chocolate chip cookies were legendary. No birthday was complete without an ice cream bucket full of her cookies. Her receipt remains a guarded family secret.
Lila is survived by her five children, Kathleen (Dale) Anderson, Jamestown, NY, Ken (Dena) Bingham, North Ogden, UT, Ellen (Allen) Lovato, Clearfield, UT, Owen Bingham, Las Vegas, NV and Brian (Melanie) Bingham, Kaysville, UT, her brothers and sister, Ralph Butler, James Butler and Kay DePugh, 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by all. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, in-laws, David and Florence Bingham, and five of her siblings.
The family expresses their sincere gratitude to the nurses and staff at the memory unit of Fairfield Valley in Layton, UT. There loving care of our mother was greatly appreciated.
