Lila Holliday Johnson

Lila Holliday Johnson, 93, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, February 17, 2013, in her North Ogden home where she had lived for 64 years. She was born in Lewiston, Utah, on August 10, 1919 to Alma Wallace and Marteena Kartchner Holliday. She married John Rodney Johnson on November 4, 1936. They were sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple in August 1980.

Lila and Rodney spent 14 retirement years living in a cabin they had built together in the Sawtooth Mountains of Idaho. Out of town visitors were always greeted with Mom''s famous fish-fry.

Lila loved doing yard work and gardening. She also enjoyed fishing, roller skating, swimming and dancing. Lila was known for her rug weaving, crocheting, and knitting. She shared what she made with everyone.

During World War II, Lila was a an award winning Window Trimmer for JC Penney''s and was involved in the war bond drive.

She loved doing LDS Temple name extraction, and temple ordinance work. She also served in many ward auxiliaries.

Lila loved people from all walks of life. Her heart was as big as the outdoors. She was frugal to the end, so others would never go without.

She always lovingly joked that she could not die while her grandbabies and great-grandbabies were on the way for her to hold, which was one of her greatest joys.

Lila is survived by her children, Terry R. (Tamara) Johnson, Renae (David) Phillips, Wendy (Darwin) Lowry and Randy W. (Julie) Johnson; 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren and brother, Dell A. (Nellie) Holliday

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and sister, Ileen Garcia.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
