Lila Nielsen Meacham
Lila Nielsen Meacham quietly slipped the bounds of earth and returned to her Heavenly Father Saturday, October 2, 2010. Lila and her twin sister Twila were born January 14, 1918 in Midview, Duchesne County, Utah to Orson Christian Nielsen and Kate LaVern Musig. They were the third and fourth of nine children.
Lila and Twila attended school in California and graduated from Hollywood High School.
Lila married Sharon Howard Meacham on April 20, 1943 in the Logan Temple. They lived in Vernal for 28 years during which time she worked as a legal secretary and homemaker. In 1974 they moved to the Salt Lake Valley and later to Bountiful.
Lila was an active member of the LDS Church and held numerous positions throughout her life. She especially enjoyed her callings involving music. She spent many years involved in helping their foster children.
Lila and her husband served three missions together and traveled to many areas researching family history. Lila had a passion for family history and left a lasting legacy for her posterity.
Survived by her husband Sharon, Bountiful, UT and two children Gary (Judy) Meacham of Bountiful and Jeanette (Arvin) Billings of Nephi, UT; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; seven foster children; brother Lamar Nielsen, Roosevelt, UT; sisters Emeretta Westergard, Farr West, UT and Elouise Turner, Vernal, UT.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Friday October 8, 2010 at Lindquist''s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where a visitation will be held from 9:30-10:45 am prior to the services. Interment Valley View Memorial Cemetery, West Valley City.
