Liliane Burgat Kilts

Liliane Lucie Burgat Kilts, 76, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, June 14, 2011.

She was born July 1, 1934 in Geneva, Switzerland to Paul and Lina Bourret Burgat. She attended and graduated from school in Nidau, Switzerland. She continued her education completing watch-making school. After graduation she worked for Omega Watch Company.

Liliane joined the LDS Church in 1951 and immigrated to the United States in 1952. After coming to the United States, she worked for Dr. Peterson in Clearfield and also the canning company in Syracuse.

On April 29, 1954, Liliane married Clair Kilts in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. After their marriage, Clair was sent to Germany with the U.S. Army during which time they were able to travel to Switzerland on several occasions. They attended the Swiss Temple dedication in 1955.

She was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in the presidencies of the Relief Society and Primary. She served 15 years as a leader of the 11 year old Scouts and received the Silver Fawn Award from the Boy Scouts of America.

In 1997-1998, she and her husband served a mission at the Swiss Temple. This provided an opportunity to do extensive genealogy work for her family. They were able to make numerous return trips to do additional family research.

Liliane is survived by her husband, four sons and one daughter, Jeffery (Katie) Kilts, South Ogden; Tim (Tammy) Kilts, Hooper; Mark (Leann) Kilts, Plain City; Rebecca (Ronald) Romero, West Bountiful; Matthew (Hope) Kilts, Hooper; and 19 grandchildren.

Liliane had a huge and loving heart. She felt deep and sincere love for all people and for all living things. She felt great joy in serving and giving to others.

The family wishes to express deepest appreciation to Harmony Home Health Care, with special thanks to Tara, Eileen, Brenae, Ashley and Tiffani. The family would also like to thank Dr. Gary Christensen and Dr. Grant Holland. Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18th at 1 p.m. at the Hooper Stake Center Chapel, 5375 South 5900 West.

The family will meet with friends on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Saturday at the church from 12 to 12:45 p.m.
