Lillie Andrea Hansen Reese Lackey passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 25, 2024, eight days before her 98th Birthday, after complications following hip surgery. She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on April 2, 1926, to Edward Mikael Emilius Hansen and Mary Jane Thomas. She was one of seven children by her mother. Her mother passed away while Lillie was young, and she was raised as their own by Calvin and Myrtle (sister) Littleford and was the oldest of four sisters. She attended Washington Jr High and graduated from Ogden High in 1944.
She married Phillip M. Reese on August 17, 1945. They had four children, Phyllis (Tom) Jensen, Michael Reese (deceased) (Renee Harrah), Edward (Julie) Reese and Jean (Tracy) King. They later divorced.
She ran a daycare out of her home for 19 years and she loved the little children. She worked at Woolworth Co, Union Bus Depot, and for the Defense Depot Ogden as a material sorter and classifier for 21 years, she received many awards for her hard work and dedication to the job. She served as VP and President of the Jr. Old Timers Club (UPRR). She enjoyed playing cards and hosting the get-togethers of the club.
She married Donald Wayne Lackey on July 19, 1975, it was later solemnized in the Ogden Temple in 1976. She accepted stepchildren into the family, Steven (Sally) Lackey, Donna (John) Miller, William deceased (Cynthia) Lackey, Linda (David) Keller, and Phillip Lackey.
Lillie was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings; she taught in the youth organization in primary and worked in the Relief Society. She was always the one that was helping others. Lillie and Don served a mission in England Coventry for 18 months from 1989 to 1990. They traveled in an RV as full timers for 7 1 ⁄ 2 years and enjoyed the many sites traveling around the United States before they settled in Apache Junction, Arizona.
In Arizona, they lived in a park model community. She was always an active participant in church activities, where they served in the church cannery and as temple workers as well as activities in the park community. She enjoyed crocheting, making crafts, she loved playing cards and was in a billiard’s league with ladies in the park. In her late late years, she filled her time and enjoyed working on family Genealogy.
In 97 years, she outlived many. Most of which was close family, many siblings, lifelong friends, her husband, her son Michael and three grandchildren.
Lillie is survived by her children, Don’s children, and two sisters Joyce (Clark) Olsen and Patsy Lucero.
As a family we would like to express our thanks to the staff at Seasons Assisted Living and Pineview Rehab Center for their kindness and love of Our Mother.
