Linda Delia Martinez

LAYTON a" Linda Martinez, age 74, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at Davis Medical Center. She was born August 14, 1935 in Ensenada, New Mexico, the daughter of Locadio and Adelida Martinez. She married Julian Martinez on August 21, 1952 in Evanston, Wyoming. They were later married in the Catholic Church and had been married for 50 years.
Linda retired from Hill AFB in 1994 to stay home and take care of her grandson, Dillon Martinez. She was a loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother and was loved and respected by all who knew her. Her grandson was the center of her life and she enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her grandson and two children. She took great pride in her family and their accomplishments and never hesitated to take the opportunity to share it with you.
Linda had a cabin at Dike Lake in Idaho and enjoyed spending as much time as possible there with her family. She had a true love for cooking and was a wonderful cook. She also enjoyed going to Wendover whenever possible. Linda was the matriarch of her family and had a phenomenal sense of dedication to them. She was a caring and compassionate person and many people would often refer to her as their 2nd mother. To know her was to love her. She was an active member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton. She was loved and respected by her family, friends and numerous nieces and nephews. Linda will truly be missed.
Surviving is her son Marty Martinez; daughter, Kathy Martinez; grandson, Dillon Martinez; and her little dog, Maxie, all of Layton. Also surviving are 3 sisters, Francis Archuleta (Florencio), Layton; Bernie Marquez (Ernesto), New Mexico; and Odie Hostetler, California. Preceded in death by her husband, Julian ''Marty'' Martinez; her parents; 1 brother, Leo; and 2 sisters, Flora and Beatrice.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at 9:00 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 S. Chapel St, Layton. Friends and family may call Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. Prayer service will be at 7 p.m. with Monsignor Victor Bonnell as celebrant. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd.
