Lloyd Green Today my “gentle giant’ left this earth losing his battle to stand alone and walk. The culprits were a broken hip and a worn out heart. Born March 18, 1922 in Fountain Green, Utah, Lloyd Wilson Green was the second youngest of eleven children. His parents were George Wesley Wilson and Mariane Katinka Leonora Jensen Green. Lloyd’s childhood experiences were colored with the advantages and disadvantages of living in a small town and enjoyed a big family of four sisters, Erna, Sadie, Della and Georgia, plus seven brothers Clyde, Wesley, Elmer, Frank and Roy. They all preceded him in death. One brother Cleon still survives. His parents and first wife La Rae Broadhead; whom he dearly loved also preceded him in death. A polio leg at 17 shortened his military service in World War II. Lloyd was the master of quiet service all of his life; speaking courteously to all he knew and met. Loyalty to family and friends was a high priority. His unique wit which one friend called his “Lloydisims” was legendary in his life. As Parkinson’s robbed him of clear thinking, the past few years, this gift he never lost. Lloyd met and married Irene Webb Hafen 21 years ago and along with his love for her, he also loved hunting, fishing, his 4-wheeler and his ’78 Ford truck and teasing. He is survived by his wife, Irene, his children Gloria (Tom) Kariya, Jerry (Vicki) Green and Connie (Ron) Clements; also Irene’s children Debra Kay (Steve) Wood, Diane (Chuck) Cluff, A.P. Buster (Paula) Hafen and Anthony M. ‘Muggy’ (Jill) Hafen. Grandchildren number six with his first wife and eleven of Irene’s grandchildren. There are also a total of 20 great-grandchildren combined and many extended other family members. Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 20, 2009 at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 N. 400 E. where friends may call Friday from 6-8 pm and 9:45-10:45 am Saturday prior to services.
