Lloyd Thomas Spackman 1914 ~ 2007
FARMINGTON a" A Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend passed away peacefully just before his 93rd birthday on Sunday, August 5, 2007 surrounded by his loving family. He was the sixth child born to George and Bertha Tucker Spackman in Farmington, Utah on August 16, 1914.
Lloyd married Gertrude (Trudy) Welch in the Salt Lake Temple on September 23, 1943. Lloyd and Trudy were blessed with three children. He was a devoted husband of 50 years to his wife who preceded him in death. Lloyd unselfishly cared for Trudy for years as her health declined. His unselfish devotion also extended into his church life as an active member of the LDS faith. Lloyd will be remembered for his love of the gospel. In his later years he married Verda Hatch and enjoyed traveling to new places with her.
Lloyd was a good man and an honest man. He had been taught the value of hard work as a child by his father, and throughout his life, until advanced age made it impossible, he could be found at most hours of the day hard at work. He worked a full time job at Hill Air Force Base and both before and after his work there, as long as it was light outside, he would be working in the yard. He maintained an apple orchard on his property and a large vegetable garden. For several years he raised chickens commercially in two large chicken coops. Many people still remember the high quality of his apples, his corn, or his chickens.
Lloyd will be missed by friends and family.
Survived by his children Robert (Carolyn) Spackman of Salt Lake; Donna Hyde of Fruit Heights; his grandchildren David (Wendy), Charlene, Linda and Sandi Spackman; and Shelice (Gary) Murphy, Christopher (Rachael) Hyde, Angela (Todd) Hamilton, Kathy (John) Cornejo, Lisa (Tim) Burningham, Markham Hyde, and Lindsay (Adam) Barnett, and 21 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Trudy, wife Verda, son Richard Michael, parents, siblings and son-in-law, Stephen Hyde.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 9, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Farmington Rock Chapel, 272 North Main. Friends and family may call Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist''s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank Vista Hospice and the nurses and aides at Lakeview Hospital for their loving care.
