Lois Rae Bailey
Lois Rae Bailey, 90, passed away Monday, June 28, 2010, surrounded by family. She was born in Dragon, Utah on December 2, 1919 to Raymond Tieg and Dorothy Dean Eldridge. She grew up in Telluride, Grand Junction, and Montrose, Colorado. She married Elvin Short in 1937. They were later divorced. She married Seth Baty in 1941. They were later divorced. She married the love of her life, Bill Bailey, in October 1957. He passed away on August 22, 1970.
Lois loved family get togethers, anything involving her grandchildren, traveling the US, and dancing. She worked as a waitress in Brigham City, Utah, at Barkalow Brothers at the Union Station, the Holiday Inn, Mildred’s Dress Shop and at Mountain Bell in Ogden, Utah. As a teenager, she was the first female usher in a local theater in Telluride, Colorado. She belonged to the F.O.E. Auxiliary and was one of the 50 charter members in Brigham City. She especially loved marching with the Auxiliary Drill Team, arranging charity events and Peach Day Parades. In addition to her love of family she will always be remembered for her quirky smile, sparkling blue eyes, perfectly combed hair, Betty Boop paper dolls, model attitude, ability to bring happiness to others, and passion for the simple things in life.
She is survived by her children, Bob (Linda, deceased) Short, Gary (Nedra) Short, Darlene (Clyde, deceased) Nelson, Ron (Shelly) Baty, and Carol Jenkins, 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, William Eldridge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two sisters, one son-in-law, one daughter-in-law, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Her family would like to thank all the staff at Manor Care Health Services and Inspiration Hospice for their loving care and respect for their mother the last 5 ½ years.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood.
