Lois Marie Stegen Carter

Lois Carter passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016 in South Ogden, Utah due to incidence of age; she was 86 years old. She was born on October 5, 1929 in Ogden to Alfred W. Stegen and Ida Mae Parker. She was the youngest of five brothers, Lyle, Don, Dean, Lee and Elgin; and one sister, LaVaun Ferrin, all who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Ogden High School in 1947 and later in life from the LPN Nursing Program at Weber State College in Ogden, Utah. She was the only sibling in her family to graduate from high school in large part because of World War II.
Lois married at age 19 to a young handsome guy, Glen Carter on February 18, 1949 in Ogden, Utah and the marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on November 2, 1950. Glen preceded her in death on September 4, 2013 after 64 years of marriage.
Lois is survived by four children, John (Rachel) of Syracuse, Alan of Washington Terrace, Connie Neylan (David) of Salt Lake City, and David (Julie) of West Point; she is survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to give thanks to the staff of Inspiration Hospice, Legacy House of South Ogden and to the CNA’s both past and present for their warm relationship and putting up with mom’s bad days as well as her good days. A special thanks to a special granddaughter, Paxton, for her loyal and selfless devotion all these years.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may gather with the family on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
