Lois Muriel Lyman

Our wonderful mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend, passed away Monday, December 9, 2013 from natural causes. She was blessed with a beautiful happy life of 99 years. She touched everyone she knew with happiness, and was loved by all that knew her.

Muriel was born on August 22, 1914 to Harry and Claudia Nelson in Glendale, California. She grew up in Glendale and graduated from Hoover High School in 1932. Later graduated from Glendale Jr. College in 1934, where she was an avid athlete.

She married the love of her life Evan Hunter Lyman (Mike) on April 30, 1947 in Glendale, California and later moved to Salt Lake City. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple on September 8, 1989. She had been living with her daughter Karen in Layton for the past nine years.

She loved to read, play the organ, spending time with her grandchildren, watching sports, golf and baseball. She also enjoyed spending her time with her best friend Shirly Ball who just turned 100 years old. Muriel had a great love for animals and donated to the Humane Society for years.

The world will miss her greatly, especially her daughter Karen who had cared for her.

She is survived by her daughter Karen Montgomery, son Jim (Terree) Lyman, nine grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister and three poodles.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 17, 2013 at 10 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit with family on Tuesday from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Mayfield, Utah Cemetery.

We want to thank Rocky Mountain Rehab for all their great care and kindness they gave mom. We also want to thank Gary Kite and my daughters for all the love and support. Thanks to Becky Kennedy for traveling so far to give her love and comfort.
