Lois Eschler Martin

May 10, 1933 ~ September 13, 2016

Lois Eschler Martin, 83, passed away on September 13, 2016. Lois was born on May 10, 1933, in Ogden, Utah to Victor William and Ruby Jessop Eschler. She graduated from Ogden High School and later moved to Bountiful where she lived much of her life. Lois married John L. Martin and together they had a daughter, Karen Martin Wadman and son, James Edward Martin. They raised their family in Bountiful then moved to Kaysville and later divorced.

Lois was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for Zions Bank for over 20 years before retiring. She was a member of the Promontory Chapter of the NRHS and enjoyed traveling on the train with the team from ATK for over 15 years. Lois enjoyed her time on the train; always an adventure. She also worked and volunteered for a private school where she interacted with small children whom she adored!

Lois was a loving, caring person who was always helping others. She loved her family more than anything in this world and found joy when the little children came to visit. They all helped her and brightened her day, leaving her with a smile on her face. Lois was a loving mother, sister, daughter, grandma, and friend. Her spirits remained high and she never gave up hope after a tragic accident left her impaired for the past 10 years. She touched so many lives and will be missed by all. Lois was loved by everyone that she met. Her sense of humor was always intact, even through the rough times in life. She was a pillar of strength and taught us all endurance through the trials of this life.

Lois is survived by her two children, Karen Martin Wadman of North Ogden and Jim Martin of Bountiful; her sister, Rose (Dick) Hall of Bountiful; six grandchildren, Bruce (Jessi) Wadman of Harrisville, Tiffany (Joel) Prince of Willard, Jessica (Kam) Whitaker of Bear Lake, Robert (Tawnee) Wadman of Yucaipa, Scott Wadman of SLC, and Heather Martin of Bountiful. She is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren, Leslee (Dalon) Hiatt, Trenton, Brooke, Trevor, Desiree, Chloe, Sydnee, Jaxon, Keyaira, Brooklinn, Kurstlynn, Devrie, Davin, Zoey, and Riley. We’re sure she has been welcomed with open arms by her parents, siblings, Ellen (Dan) Kunz, Sarah Beth Eschler, Melvin (Ruth) Eschler, Vera (John) Eccles; son-in-law, Grant Wadman; grandson, Caleb Nelson; and others she loved who preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
