Lois Ostrup

SOUTH OGDEN- Lois D. Ostrup,77, born in Redwood City, CA. Oct 28, 1934 to Arthur Marcel and Dorothy Hulse Rose, passed away Thursday July 20th after a valiant struggle with congestive heart failure, in the loving arms of her family.

She attended and graduated Ogden High School.

Lois married Robert B. Ostrup on December 06, 1952 and would have celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary in December of this year.

Throughout her many trials and tests we never heard her complain. In her words she wrote: "Be grateful for trials, they make you grow spiritually." She was a spiritual and faithful member of the LDS church, accepting many callings until she needed to turn her undivided attention to the caretaking of the love of her life, Bob.

Lois made many life-long friends during the fifty-plus years they lived in Washington Terrace. She made many more during the twenty years of working as a Customer service representative for Hilltop Lanes, and for the past two years several more new dear friends in the Burch Creek 3rd Ward especially Bishop Doug Anderson.

Lois was an avid Jazz fan and could often be found watching games surrounded by family and friends. She was forever loyal and don''t dare criticize or interrupt her favorite team. She was very competitive in all she did from bowling to board and card games, and loved to play with all her grandchildren.

She loved life! She loved to laugh, and was very positive, and non-judgmental. "Better than Butter" describes her outlook on life because every day was a "beautiful day"! She was hard working and very dedicated especially to family. She was loving, generous, giving, and forgiving. She made each of her 27 grandchildren feel that they were her favorite! She embraced every opportunity to gather family and friends to celebrate any occasion, especially Christmas.

Lois is survived by her four daughters Debby Ostrup of Riverdale, Julie Bravo (Sal) of South Ogden, Angie Waddoups (Steve) of North Ogden, Linda Braegger (Kim) of Corinne, UT, and her son Rick Ostrup of Washington Terrace, sister Myrna Rose, and brother Richard (Barbara), step sister Carrie (Gary) Huckell, a brother-in-law, and many special sisters-in-law. She also has many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who were very dear to her.

Lois'' legacy includes 27 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert B. Ostrup, her parents, her step-father Ernie, her brother Gerald, one grandson, and one great-grandson, and just recently her beloved cat "Fifi". She never gave up and fought to her last breath.

Lois'' family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you for the compassionate care by the Legacy Healthcare nurse Jennifer, the Legacy Hospice CNA Rhonda, and her God-sent nurse Marie whom she dearly loved.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Burch Creek 3rd Ward building, 5161 S 1300 E., Washington Terrace. Family will meet with friends Wednesday night from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
