Lois W. Painter

Lois Williena Painter, 88, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010.

She was born April 13, 1921 in Smithfield, Utah to William H. and Edith M. Read Hendershot.

She married Perry Winger on November 22, 1940, in Ogden, Utah.

On June 25, 1964, Lois married Norman "Ray" Painter in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She worked in the film industry in California.

She was an active member of the South Ogden LDS 5th Ward where she served nine years as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple. She also served as Relief Society President and many other callings. She loved her service in the LDS Church, her journals were full of how Sunday was her favorite day of the week so she could go to church, and her strong faith and testimony always lit up her life. She loved her family, and her ward family, neighbors who were so good to her.

Lois''s dedication in life was to her family, especially the grandkids, even the neighborhood youth called her Grandma Lois.

She loved quilting and crocheting. She was a super canner, canning every fruit and vegetable in sight. She was a great homemaker.

Lois is survived by her son, Ronald Winger, Las Vegas, NV; a step-son, Kenneth Ray (Cheri) Painter, South Jordan; three step-daughters, Carole Painter, Salt Lake City; Anne Kirkman, Ogden; Anita (Steve) Thon, Ogden; 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Verda (Bob) Olsen, Jeanine (Marcell) Tibbits; a brother, Herbert Hendershot; a step-sister, Donna, and four step-brothers, Lavern, Edward, Erven, Wayne and Pete.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray; a daughter, Eileen Mertens, a grandson, Mark Painter and a sister, Dorothy.

We find peace in knowing that she is free from her illness and is again vibrant, healthy and happy. We know when she passed through the veil she was greeted by her many loved ones that have gone on before her. Even being greeted by her father who died when she was just six weeks old. We will see you again Grandma Lois, keep the home fires burning!

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 4th at 11:00 a.m. at the South Ogden 5th Ward Chapel, 4380 Orchard Avenue.

A viewing will be held Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Thursday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Send condolences to the family at: www.lindquistmortuary.com
