Lois Olsen Stephens

Lois Olsen Stephens, returned home to her Heavenly Father on October 31, 2022. She was born in Mantua, Utah to Abner Scott and Geneva Lund Olsen on June 15, 1925. She was the 5^th of nine children. She left home at 15 to live in Ogden with her sister and brother-in-law, Orma and Milton Jensen.

She worked at Hill Field before moving to Provo with Orma to finish her high school education. She graduated from Provo High School. After graduation, she returned to Ogden and worked at Hill Field and People’s Finance.

Lois met Taylor Beesley Stephens in 1947 at White City Dance Hall in Ogden. It was love at first sight. They were sealed in the Salt Lake City Temple October 1, 1947. They were blessed with four children, Connie Jane, Taylor Brent, Shanna Cay, and Val Kent.

Lois was very proud to be a mother and loved her children deeply and enjoyed being able to stay home to raise her children. She was a wonderful homemaker. She loved to cook and always had wonderful holiday and birthday celebrations. After Taylor was injured in an accident and unable to work, she had to go to work to provide for the family. She worked at Southern Pacific Railroad for three years and was glad when she could finally be able to be home once again with her children. Later in life she did work at Deamer’s Finance for a short time.

She taught her children to be honest in all things; to have integrity, love and serve those around them. She enjoyed all of God’s creations and loved to travel to see the beauty in the world. She taught her family to appreciate them as well.

Lois was a beautiful seamstress and her daughters were blessed to be able to wear the beautiful formals and wedding dress that she made. She also enjoyed doing ceramics and loved to give them as gifts and decorate her home with them.

She joined Beta Sigma Phi Sorority in 1983 and made many lifelong friends there. She also belonged to Daughters of Utah Pioneers and received her 40 year pin this year.

Lois served faithfully in many callings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a very strong testimony of her Savior.

It was our joy and privilege to be able to serve and honor our mother over the past two years as she had served us throughout her life. She will be dearly missed, but we know that we will see her again.

Lois is survived by her children, Connie Jane (Gordon) England, Shanna Cay (William) Blakeley, and Val Kent (Trisha) Stephens; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Stephens; 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; brother, Larry Olsen; and sister, Zola Tucker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Beesley; son, Taylor Brent; two great-grandsons; grandson-in-law; her parents and six siblings.

We would like to thank her sister, Zola for the many hours of service and love she provided to her sister, Legacy House for their care and compassion and Applegate Hospice for the tender loving service that was shown to our mother in her last days.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd.
