Lois Joyce Wilde Thurgood

Lois Joyce Wilde Thurgood, 90, passed away on March 29, 2017.  Born on May 17, 1926, Lois was the eldest of 14 children of Clarence L. and Louise G. Bauer Wilde.  She was born in Mammoth, Utah and grew up in the mining town of Eureka, Utah.

After graduating from Payson High School, Lois moved with her sister Bonnie, to work at the Ogden Arsenal and Hill Air Force Base.  It was at this time, that Lois met her forever love, Duane (Dueder) Thurgood.  They married when they were both 21 and began their life together in Syracuse, Utah were they remained until the end.

Lois worked for Clover Club for 24 years where she formed many lifelong friendships and attained a supervisor position for the last six years before her retirement.

Throughout the years she helped her husband farm the land in Syracuse and together they grew the most amazing beautiful flowers.  While Duane would be working in the greenhouses Lois would be inside cleaning or outside mowing her beautiful lawn.  The love they had for each other was often expressed through their love of dancing and they could often be seen in the living room dancing to George Strait’s music on the stereo.

She is survived by her sons; Colin (Terri), Syracuse; Michael (Carol), Syracuse; and Corey (Sue Barker), North Ogden.  She has 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her son: Rick (Betsy Panucci), Syracuse; and her husband Duane.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery.
