Lois Street Watson, 85, passed away September 23, 2022 at the home of her daughter, Heather, in San Antonio, TX, “Bless Her Heart”! She was born July 31, 1937 to Joseph Melvin Street and Margaret Clayburn Street and had a happy childhood on the family farm on Street Lane in Stringtown (Midway), Utah with her two younger sisters and a brother. Her daddy, Melvin, passed away while she was a teenager and her mother later married Lloyd Wall who Lois learned to love dearly.
Mom married her high school sweetheart, N.C.Watson, on June 5, 1953 in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Together they raised seven children living in Salt Lake City, Layton, Kaysville, UT, and finally San Antonio, TX. N.C. passed away in Kaysville on July 30, 2009.
Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and she shared her testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ, often in both her word and deed. She served in many callings in the church, as president of the primary and young women several times and most recently served as an organist in the Bountiful and Ogden Temples as well as being called to work in the San Antonio Temple.
She was a wonderful pianist and an accomplished accompanist. She instilled a love for music in all of her children and most of her grandchildren. She taught many people to play the piano and blessed even more people as she selflessly shared her talent with all.
Lois worked at many jobs in her life - first as a piano teacher and then many retail management positions. She worked alongside her family at the Half Price Store, then at Jolene’s Children’s Clothing and retired from Walmart, but her favorite job was that of mother and grandmother. She was never happier than when she was with family. We could count on mom to be there for everything whether it was sports, music, theater, dance or even a short message at church. She traveled far and wide to support her children and grandchildren in their endeavors.
Lois is survived by her seven children: Allen N. (Penny) Watson, South Ogden, UT; Cindy (Dean) Cunningham, Pleasant View, UT; Mark M. (Jolynn) Watson, Henderson, NV; Sharon (Larren) Flint, Layton, UT; Dr. B Thomas (Elizabeth) Watson, Kaysville, UT; Douglas J.(Tricia) Watson, Elk Ridge, UT; and Heather (David) Griffiths, San Antonio, TX.; 40 grand-children and 25 spouses, 58 great-grandchildren; her brother Karl (Carole) Street; her sister Ann (Dwayne) Durtschi; and sister-in-law Joan Hortin. She was preceded in death by her husband N.C. Watson; her parents Melvin Street, Margaret Street-Wall, Lloyd Wall; her father and mother-in-law Niff and Ethel Watson; sister Helen Kay Henderson; grandson Kevin Watson, and great grandson Jackson Cunningham.
Mom was a caregiver all of her life. She cared for her father-in-law, Niff Watson, during his final years, her husband N. C. through nine years of dialysis, and her mother through her last years. We are grateful for her example and thank our sister Heather and her husband Dave and their entire family, especially Kim, for their loving care these past few years with mom.
