Lola Ball Hardy
11/16/1918 ~ 09/22/2014
Lola Ball Hardy, 95, passed away Monday, September 22, 2014.
Lola moved to Lotus Park in West Haven, Utah, August 2013. Prior to that, she had lived in the Harrison Regent in Ogden for ten years. She was born Lola Ball on November 16, 1918 in Naples, Utah. Married Frank Hardy and lived in Morgan (they were avid horseback riders), moved to Ogden and settled in Roy with their children, Kim, Jean and Denny; then came five grandchildren and eight-great-grandchildren.
She spent 16 years working with the younger generation. She left an everlasting impression while teaching, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, 4H, mutual and while volunteering at St. Benedict’s Hospital.
For many years Lola was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association. An association dedicated to the promotion of women through leadership, networking support, education and national recognition.
Her work record says a lot about Lola, too. She was employed at the Ogden Defense Depot from 1943- 1946, retiring to have her three children. Then resumed civil service duties in 1963, retiring 23 years later. During civil service tour, she earned Sustained Superior Performance Awards and eight years of Zero Defects Award.
Lola received special recognition during her 12 years volunteering at Hill Aerospace Museum. Through her window illustrations, honoring the history of HAFB and the men and women who served our country, she showed her dedication.
Lola was always involved in her community and was instrumental in the designing and presentation of the Roy City Brochure.
She loved to read, dance and travel. Her love and passion for travel, while meeting new people and experiencing each new adventure, was immense.
Her feelings about life “I am not afraid of tomorrow for I have seen yesterday and I love today.”
She also had a passion for the study of the stare, government, and politics. After retiring, she attended Weber State University with focus on political science and acting.
Some of Lola’s traits were her shoes (mostly high heels) wearing really big beautiful earrings and always a bright colored wardrobe. She was independent, vibrant, strong, intelligent, and delightful to be around. She was full wit, charm, and laughter. She touched the lives of many with her smile, her heart and loving spirit.
One of her favorite sayings “no outfit is complete without cat hair”…yes, she loved animals especially cats.
Her authentic joy of life made her a special friend to many. Her youthful spirit will always be remembered…the memory of her thoughtful nature and optimistic attitude will always be cherished.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, September 27th at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. The family will meet with friends from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.
