Lola Ann Ipaktchian
Jan. 11, 1942-Dec. 21, 2021
Lola Ann Ipaktchian of Syracuse, Utah, passed away at her home on Dec. 21, 2021. Although her passing was unexpected, her family is glad that in her final days she was happily preparing for Christmas and carrying out the roles she most loved: mother and grandmother.
Lola was born on Jan. 11, 1942, in Logan to Wes and Beth Thompson. She spent her childhood in northern Utah and graduated from Weber High School in 1961. That same year, she married the love of her life, Hersh Ipaktchian, in Plain City.
After a few years in Ogden, Hersh and Lola moved to Layton in 1966, where they lived for more than 40 years as they raised their four children and Hersh established his restaurant business. In addition to running the household and taking care of her family, Lola was active in PTA organizations and served in a variety of roles in the LDS Church. Her faith was important to her life and provided her with strength and comfort over the years.
Once her children were grown, Lola relished being able to dote on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a good neighbor, a kind friend and someone who would always lend a helping hand to those in need.
Lola is survived by her four children Susan Erhart of Menlo Park, Calif., Rich Ipaktchian of Centerville, Dave Ipaktchian of Salt Lake City, and Debbie Vanderhoof of Clinton; her five grandchildren Vanessa Vanderhoof, Jake Vanderhoof, Quinten Vanderhoof, Morgan Ipaktchian and Michael Ipaktchian; her two great-grandchildren Zoe Vanderhoof and Hayes Vanderhoof; and her sister, Linn Bodily of West Point. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and her brothers Clead, Larry and Dick.
