Lola Despain Richardson passed away at home in Salt Lake City on April 23, 2008. She was born 24 February 1916 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Douglas Clawson and Eleanora Davis Despain and attended schools in Granite, Sandy and Park City. She attended BYU and served a mission to the North Central States.
Married in 1939 to Ivan Ross Richardson, she raised a family of four boys and four girls. She lived twenty-one years in Virden and Lordsburg, New Mexico and in 1967 moved to Kaysville, Utah and in 1992 to Orem. Following recovery from a bad fall, in 2006 she moved to Salt Lake City to live with her daughter and son-in-law.
She was active all her life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including serving as presidents of Primary, Relief Society and MIA. In the community she served as a Red Cross instructor and as captain in the DUP. She worked in the extraction program, served as a temple worker in Ogden for six years and then as a church service missionary at the Senior Mission Training Center in Provo for eight years. She was a woman of many talents, but perhaps, most notable was her ability to make and keep dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ivan; a daughter, Janae; two grandsons, Joseph Ammon Richardson and Michael Brent Richardson; and four brothers. She is survived by her children, LoAnne (Gerald) Curtis, Salt Lake City, UT; C.
