Lola M. Stecklein
July 16, 1927 - October 13, 2017
SUNSET - Lola Mae Stecklein went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ after a long illness on October 13, 2017. She was born July 16, 1927 in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ralph and Maudie Denton. She spent her early years in Quapaw Oklahoma, then moved to Twin Falls, Idaho at the age of 19 with her family to find work.
Lola met and married Rudolph Stecklein in Twin Falls, Idaho. In the early 1950’s she, Rudy and infant daughter Linda moved to Ogden, Utah where they made their home. She retired from Hill Air Force Base as a Telecommunications Operator.
She was a long-time member of Clearfield Community Church where she taught Sunday school for 10 years, was a member of Martha’s Circle and held many other positions.
She also volunteered for the Girl Scouts of America as a helper and worked for the senior citizen program in Clearfield, Utah. She loved bowling and spending time at their cabin in the Uinta Mountains, but most of all she loved being with her family and doing things with them. They were her whole life.
Lola is survived by her daughters Linda (Dave) DeGroot, Clearfield, Utah, Deborah (Jim) Maryott, Decatur, Nebraska, Her son Brian (Melinda Berkley) Stecklein, Hooper, Utah; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters Lela Alexander, Rupert, Idaho, Sharon Ross, Twin Falls, Idaho and one brother Don Denton of Marsing, Idaho and several nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her husband Rudolph Stecklein, her parents Ralph and Maudie (Pliler)Denton and brother Ralph Denton.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday October 21, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Clearfield Community Church, 525 E. 200 S. in Clearfield, Utah, with Rev. James Carlson and Rev. Richard Axmann officiating. Friends may visit with family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. and Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.
The family would like to thank Fairfield Village and Encompass staff for their great kindness and the great care they gave to our mother and the residents of Fairfield Village for accepting her as a friend and making her last few months full of love.
