Lona Mae Pincock Godfrey

Lona Mae Pincock Godfrey passed away peacefully on June 30, 2014.  She was born to Howard and Lillie Mae Pincock on December 28, 1923 in Sugar City, Idaho.  She graduated from Sugar Salem High School in 1942 and later from Brigham Young University.  She served two missions for the LDS Church during her lifetime.  The first mission was in the Eastern States as a young woman and the second, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida with her husband in 1988-89.

She married LaVar Godfrey on July 2, 1954 in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple.  They raised four daughters together.  Lona Mae was a wonderful wife and mother, an exceptional grandmother, exquisite seamstress and immaculate housekeeper.  She was a devoted member of the LDS church and served in numerous ward and stake callings.  She was also active in the PTA.  She was always up for any adventure, even in her later years she would sleigh ride, run the Snake River and go jet-skiing at Lake Powell.

She is survived by her daughters; Kathleen (Chris) Merkley, Diane (Rick) Eckles, Lori Ann Noorlander and Jo Ellen (David) Jonsson, 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sisters Mona Wilding, Melba (Bill) Carter, Janet Gardner and sister-in-laws Kathryn Godfrey and Arnetta Pincock.  She is preceded in death by her husband, son-in-law Randal Noorlander, sister Lela Wilding and brother John Pincock.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Kaysville Rock Chapel, 25 South 200 East, Kaysville.  Friends may visit family Thursday from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Clarkston, Utah Cemetery.

Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.

We would like to thank the staff at the Apple Tree Assisted Living for the compassionate care they provided over the last two years.  We also wish to recognize our dear friend, Liz Held, for the love and kindness she showed our mother.
