Loreen Laura Butcher Evans
An angel, Loreen Laura Butcher Evans, 84, has been called home. She passed away surrounded by her family on April 5, 2013, from incidents due to age.
She was born on September 14, 1928 in Kaysville, a daughter to Louis John and Laura Ward Butcher. On April 25, 1944 she married her sweetheart, William Paul Evans and later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Together they had four sons and two daughters and raised their family in Ogden. They enjoyed fifty years together before William passed away in 1994.
Loreen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she held many callings over the years. She worked as a Primary and Sunday School teacher and enjoyed maintaining baptismal clothes for soon-to-be Church members.
She loved her family and cherished her time with them. She also worked as a foster mother over the years, helping children who weren''t fortunate enough to have a family like hers and she loved each one like they were her own. She was always a joy to be around. She enjoyed the holidays, making personalized ornaments and cards for her loved ones and was always proud to have worked as the first Mrs. Santa Claus at the Ogden Christmas Village.
Loreen is survived by her daughters, Bonnie Jarvis and Lora (Stephen) Joseph; sons, William "Skip" (Deb) Evans, David Louis (Cheryl) Evans, Robin Lyn (Cindy) Evans, and Anthony Todd (Lisa) Evans; 26 grandchildren, 70 great-grandchildren, and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband William, parents, and brothers Leonard, Paul, and William Butcher, granddaughter Crystal and great-granddaughter Courtnie.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Mt. Lewis Peak 1st Ward Chapel, 435 Jackson Ave in Ogden.
