Lorene Barker
LAYTON a" Lorene Campbell Crook Andersen Barker, 91, passed away Monday, August 16, 2010 in Bountiful, UT.
She was born November 16, 1918, the third of six children of Isaiah Franklin and Rachel Lovina Judkins Campbell.
Lorene married William Crook on September 6, 1939 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He passed away December 2, 1950. She also enjoyed the companionship of Donald Andersen, St. George; and R.L. Barker (deceased).
She raised four children: Wallace (Barbara) Crook, Layton; Carrolyn (Stephen) Burningham, West Valley City; Joy (Craig) Tuckett, New Albany, IN; Denny (Lucinda) Andersen, Porterville.
Lorene was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She served in Relief Society, as a Gospel Doctrine teacher and a temple worker.
She was a dedicated teacher of children and adults with special needs. She helped pioneer special education in Utah with the formation of the first public school for special education in Bountiful in 1959.
Lorene and her sister, Gean, made thousands of quilts. Many of them were donated to those in need. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and served in many different positions within the organization.
In addition to her children, her legacy includes 19 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to thank the staffs of Mountain Ridge Memory Care and Avalon Care Center for their loving care.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Family will visit with friends at the mortuary on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Heber City Cemetery.
