WASHINGTON TERRACE a€" On Wednesday, February 24, 2010, our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, LoRene Coombs Carter, 77, left his earth peacefully surrounded by her loving family.

LoRene was born February 23, 1933 in East Garland, Utah to George H. and Lillian Jensen Coombs. She was raised in East Garland and later moved to Ogden where she attended Ogden High School.

While in high school she met the love of her life, Jim. They were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on June 19, 1951.

She retired from the Internal Revenue Service then enjoyed traveling with her husband in their motor home. They made many trips to Quartzsite, Arizona, making many new friends along the way.

LoRene served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Stake and Ward Young Women''s as President, Relief Society President and many other callings.

She loved being surrounded by her family. Every member was an important part of her life. Many traditions will be carried on because of her great example.

Surviving are her husband, Jim, of Washington Terrace; sons, Brent (Becky) Carter, Washington Terrace; Kelly (Keri) Carter, Rexburg, ID; daughters, Cindy (Greg) Garfield, Kaysville; Lisa (Tim) Shurtleff, Roy; 17 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and one brother, Daryl Coombs.

The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses at McKay-Dee Hospital and also Vista Care Hospice, especially Cynthia, Bridget and Amber, for their loving care of our mother.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace West Stake Center, 125 East 5350 South, with Bishop Rick Wade officiating.

Friends may call at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Stake Center from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
