The second love of her life was her work.  She loved the field of Medicine.  She began her career as a candy striper at the VA Medical Center in Salt Lake and then became a nurses’ aide through Davis High School.  She went to work for the VA Medical Center in 1974 and became involved with the military and joined the US Army in 1975 and was assigned duties with the 328th General Hospital at Fort Douglas.  Through her work in the Army she became a 91C (Licensed practical nurse).  She received an early hardship discharge due to marital difficulties with her first husband whom she divorced in 1978.  She became interested in Oncology as a cancer registrar in 1984 and became certified in 1997 with the credentials of “CTR”.  She worked at the VA Medical Center until 1982 then moved to Hill Air Force Base Hospital until 1997 when she and Val relocated to Tucson, Arizona.  She worked at University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ and develope4d an extensive Cancer Program for them.  In 2001 they moved to North Las Vegas where she became the Cancer Program Manager at Nellis AFB.  The pinnacle of her career was being nominated for the position of Air Force Consultant to the US Surgeon General of the United States while working at Nellis.  She completed her service with the federal government when she retired in 2005 only to take on a new challenge with the Nevada Cancer Institute as an Oncology Clinical Trials Study Coordinator.  In 2007 she and Val moved back to Utah where she began working at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, Utah as an Oncology Clinical Trials Study Coordinator where she helped implement an entire new program for the Clinical Trials Department bringing it up to date with current standards.  While working in Provo, she became ill with pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease that had a sudden onset causing her to become medically disabled and dependent on oxygen 24 hours a day.  Intermountain Health Care medically retired her in January 2011.  She met with her boss and he asked how she was doing, she said “fine, - I just can’t breathe”.  Then, sadly learned that she had developed this terminal lung disease.

She continued to enjoy time spent with her family and loved water fights and old movies with the traditional Noble carmel corn.  She loved playing games and spent the last of her days playing computer games and watching TV as her health declined and she succumbed to the terrible lung disease.
