Loretta Briggs Fronberg

February 3, 1934 ~ October 18, 2017

Our beloved mother, Loretta Briggs Fronberg and wife to Charles C. Fronberg, passed peacefully on October 18, 2017 at Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah. Loretta, also known as Lori, was born February 3, 1934 in Blackfoot, Idaho to Leonard Briggs and Adrienne Miller. Lori learned the value of hard work and an appreciation for the land and agriculture in her hometown. As a young girl she worked in the fields harvesting potatoes and then as a teenager she worked at Nixon’s Drug Store. Her life was full with dear friends in high school, work and her musical interests.

As a young child, she enjoyed piano and voice lessons. At four years of age, she began her soloist career in a local production. She continued vocal lessons and traveled to Pocatello, Idaho weekly to develop her talents. She performed in many musical productions and was a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs. Within the Federation she received many honors and recognitions.

Following high school, Lori attended Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah where she continued her voice training. Between her sophomore and junior year at BYU, she spent a summer working in Los Angeles, California. There she met her future husband, Charles C. Fronberg. They continued their courtship and Lori returned to BYU after the summer. On July 1, 1955, Lori and Charles (Chuck) were married in the LDS Idaho Falls Temple in Idaho Falls, Idaho. They moved to Ogden, Utah and began their lives together. They lived most of their 62 years of marriage in Ogden.

Lori was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She served in various callings some of which included ward chorister, stake music director, callings in the Relief Society organization, teacher training, speech director, director of ward plays and served on an Ogden Temple sealing team. She enjoyed performing as a soloist and instilled the love of music in her home. She was a compassionate woman who often cared for the sick and provided service readily to those in need.  In her parent’s declining years, she attended and cared for both of her parents.

Lori worked in management and direct sales for Sarah Coventry Jewelry for many years and was able to experience associations with friends from varied backgrounds. This enriched her life. She was a reader and enjoyed growing beautiful flowers annually. She is survived by her sister, ElMarie Gunnell of Logan, Utah.

Lori felt her greatest accomplishment was that of a mother.  She and Chuck were blessed with three children. She was a devoted mother and loved her posterity with all of her heart. She is survived by her husband and her three children; Charles Briggs Fronberg (Becky), Christine F. Johansen (Alan), and Thomas Briggs Fronberg (Alissa).  She is blessed with 14 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Jared Alan Johansen.

She learned patience and endurance as she faced many health challenges in the past two decades.  For the past two years, she was attended to by many caring and loving aides and nurses. As a family we express our heartfelt appreciation to these caring individuals at Fairfield Village in Layton, Utah.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11 a.m. at the Pleasant Valley 5th Ward Chapel, 5735 Crestwood Dr., South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
