Loretta (Laurie) M. Saunders

Loretta May Saunders, 80, passed away at her home surrounded by her family on Friday, May 13, 2022. She was born on May 9, 1942 in Ogden, Utah, the daughter of Everett and Yvonne Adams McColloch. 

She married Joseph L. Gerrard on June 19,1959 in Evanston, WY. They later divorced. She married Dennis L. Saunders on August 17, 1967 in Morgan, Utah. 

Loretta worked at IRS as a tax examiner. 

She enjoyed dancing, camping, playing music, collecting carousel horses, and spending time with her family. 

Loretta is survived by her husband, Dennis; daughters, Julie Duran (Don) of Clearfield, Teresa Murray (Robert) of Brigham City, Sheila Petersen (Howard) of Ogden, and Tina Saunders of Ogden; 8 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and sister, Sharon Hansen of Roy. She was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers, 1 sister, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2022 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Rd. 

The family would like to send a special thanks to Loretta’s hospice nurse Julie and her CNA Sandra for their excellent and loving care.
