Lorin W. “Smitty” Smith OGDEN – Lorin W. Smith passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at his home in Ogden. He was born in Logan, Utah on April 25, 1923 to Fred K. and Bertha Gilgen Smith. He married Beatrice Bush on April 25, 1941. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She preceded him in death on November 23, 1995. Smitty retired from Western Radiator and Hill Top Lanes. He had also worked for Defense Depot Ogden and Wilson Construction. He was a Utah Jazz Fan and loved to tinker. He was a member of Ogden Eagles Lodge. Surviving are his children and their spouses, Larry (Randi) Smith, Pamela Peterson, Fred W. Smith, Bernetta (Milton) Nielsen, Curtis J. (Joyce) Smith; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Also surviving is one brother-in-law, Jack Bassett. Smitty was preceded in death by his wife, special sister-in-law, Alta Taylor, three sisters, Lolin, Verda, Elaine, and two brother, Kendall and Emory. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 3 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Smitty’s name to the Diabetes Association or the Utah School for the Deaf and Blind.
