Lorna Wayment Barker, 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 1, 2013. She was born on July 18, 1926 to Chester Thomas and Thelma Virginia Thomas Wayment in Ogden, Utah. She grew up in Warren, Utah.
She married Carl Nathan Barker on August 15, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and lived the rest of their lives in North Ogden. Carl and Lorna spent many hours working together on their farm. When Dad went to work at IRS Mom supervised Dad''s half of the farm. Carl passed away on March 5, 2013.
Lorna was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served faithfully in many callings including Young Women''s President, Sunday School and Primary until the age of 82. Lorna loved teaching, especially the Youth. Carl and Lorna served together in the Anaheim California Mission and Bagio Philippines Mission.
She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. She enjoyed it when it was her turn to research and teach the lesson. Lorna loved working in the family yard and garden. Her family was her life. She enjoyed doing handwork and puzzles.
Lorna is survived by her sons, Steven (Holly), North Ogden; Glen (Lis), Cedar City; K Scott (Cathy), North Ogden; Don W. (Teriko) Centerville; and Wm. Chris (Shelley) Kaysville; daughter, Janice B. Postel, Layton; 21 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Connie Rhees and Mildred Bird; sisters-in-law, Diane Wayment, Janae Wayment, and Fern Barker; and brother-in-law, Sterlin Hollingshead.
She was preceded in death by her great-grandson, Kaisen Gibbs; parents, and brothers, William and Gene; and three of her five sisters, Marjorie Remington, June Orton, and Helen Hollingshead. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 22nd Ward, 2340 Fruitland Dr., North Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, North Ogden.
