Lorna Grix Salisbury died November 13, 2011 in Ogden. She was born June 24, 1925 in Ogden to Arthur William and Violet Celia Hall Grix. When she was three, her family moved to California, where they lived in Berkeley and Oakland for three years. They returned to Ogden, where she graduated from Ogden High School and Weber College. She spent her junior year at Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts. She graduated from Utah State University in Home Economics in 1947, and did post graduate work at UCLA. She taught home economics in Ogden in 1949-50, and at Rolling Hills High School in Rolling Hills Estates, CA, where she was Curriculum Chairman of the Home Economics Department from 1964 to 1972.

She married Darwin LeRoy Salisbury on December 20, 1946 in the Logan LDS Temple. They lived in Logan, Vernal, Provo, and Ogden, and moved to Long Beach, CA, in 1953. In 1960 they moved to Rancho Palos Verdes, CA. They moved back to Ogden in 1989. She served in the Presidencies of, and was on the Stake Board of Young Womens and Primary. She taught in Sunday School and Relief Society. With her husband, Lorna served five missions for the LDS Church, Asian refugees in Long Beach, California, England London Mission, Ogden Deseret Industries, Ogden Intercity, and as an ordinance worker in the Ogden Temple for six years. She had a strong testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Her hobby was family history.

She was Captain of Lomita Camp of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and South Los Angeles County Company President, and twice as Captain of Camp College Heights in Ogden.

Lorna is survived by her husband and two daughters, Susan (James) Shepherd of Roy; and Nancy Mangan of Omaha, Nebraska; eight grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter Darla Layer.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Canyon Hollows LDS Ward, 1550 Rushton St. Friends may meet family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Logan City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the LDS Perpetual Education Fund will be appreciated.
