Lorraine M. Bedont
September 24, 1951 ~ June 4, 2017
SALT LAKE CITY – Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Lorraine “Lori,” passed away peacefully on June 4, 2017. Born on September 24, 1951 in Pagosa Springs, CO to Claudio and Cordelia Martinez.
Lori was a nurturer at heart, exemplified by her work as an accomplished Registered Nurse for over three decades. A lover of tradition and cooking, her home swelled with love as she welcomed all, cooking wonderful meals and creating memorable celebrations. She gave so much to those around her, expecting nothing in return. Lori’s garden was so artfully tended and was a constant source of natural beauty. One would never know just how much work this amazing woman had done, she made it look effortless.
She will be remembered as a strong and dedicated mother by her children, Emily and Jack. She will forever be regarded as a role model and counselor by her younger sisters, Connie and Stella. Lori was a dutiful and loving daughter to her parents, caring for them in their later days. Despite her personal health struggles, she had great compassion in her heart and had a keen sense of the human condition, always lifting the spirits of those around her.
Lori is survived by her children, Emily Miller (Reed Miller) and Jack Bedont, sisters Connie Planet (Michael Planet), Patricia Stella Canzano (Michael Canzano), nephews Robert Carr and Aaron Graham, niece Tricia Graham, dear grand-nephews Eli, Adrian and Greyson Graham and her cherished grandchildren, Adelaide and Nicolas Miller.
The family wishes to thank the exceptional staff at Heritage Place in Bountiful and Envision Hospice for their care and thoughtful guidance.
At Lori’s request, immediate family will celebrate her life and scatter her ashes in the foothills overlooking Salt Lake City.
A light has gone out for us but we hold on to many cherished memories. You are gone from our sight, but never our thoughts. Gone from our touch, but never our hearts. May God hold you in the palm of his hand. We love you with all our hearts. Your family.
