Alice Lorraine Pledger Helgesen

June 30, 1927 ~ August 15, 2018

Alice Lorraine Pledger Helgesen, 91, died peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. She was a very loving, caring and devoted wife, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be greatly missed.

Lorraine was the oldest of three children. She was born June 30, 1927 to George F. and Aaltje Meenderink Pledger. She married Jack M. Helgesen on July 17, 1945 after he completed his military service. They later eternalized their vows in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She and Jack were devout members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and lived in the Lorin Farr 3rd Ward of the Lorin Farr Stake. Together they were a part of the Greatest Generation and always shared a love of patriotism and appreciation for our country. They had three children: Jack, Anne and Jill.

She attended Ogden City Schools and graduated from Ogden High School. Lorraine held a strong conviction of maintaining a pursuit of knowledge. She instilled in her children and grandchildren the importance of education, loyalty and charity. As an officer of the Toastmistress Club she competitively spoke and was a member of the Altruist Club and many other women’s groups with whom she promoted charitable causes within the community.

After losing her mother at a young age she chose to maintain an attitude of perseverance. Her strength and bravery never ceased. Her generous and compassionate spirit for the concerns and the needs of others were always met and placed before her own. Family and Friends were most important to her.

Surviving are her three children and their companions: Jack C. (Koy) Helgesen, Anne (Bob) Carver and Jill (Ron) Roberts. She also leaves behind twelve grandchildren and thirty great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Anita Thorsted, brother George F Pledger Jr., and one child, Karen.

Her family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the fabulous caregivers at Hidden Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care along with those at Legacy Hospice.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends are invited to visit with the family for viewing at the mortuary on Monday, August 20, 2018, from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to local charity for those in need.
