OGDEN a€" Lorraine Lois Richards Maughan, 97 died Sunday, March 13, 2011 at her home in Ogden.

Lorraine was born on a hot Sunday evening, July 27, 1913, "just in time for Meeting," to John Morris and Olive Maria Hunsaker Richards in Malad, Idaho. She grew up in Logan, Utah, graduating from Logan High School in 1931, and from a two-year teaching course at Utah State Agricultural College (USA). She then went another year, "just to have fun."

She married Carl Frank Olsen in 1935. They later divorced. On July 20, 1950, she married Harvey Hugh Maughan. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple. Harvey died in 1996.

Lorraine was the organist in LDS Seminary and her Ward Primary.

She worked for her father''s mortuary business answering phones and driving the hearse for funerals. She was a hard worker and was always hurrying and accomplishing many tasks. She later worked as a teller for First Security Bank (Wells Fargo) for 27 and half years and lived in Ogden for over 70 years.

Lorraine was a great cook, especially her potato salad and homemade bread.

She dearly loved her family and is survived by her children, Patricia Olsen (Paul) Schneiter, Provo; Clark (Joyce) Olsen, Syracuse; Lois DeeAnn (Lynn, deceased) McCullough, Salt Lake City; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. She also has three step-grandchildren and five step-great-grandchildren.

Lorraine was the oldest of five and is survived by one brother, John Morris (Charlene) Richards, Murray.

The family expresses their thanks to her beloved friends LaVonne and Verleen, Dr. Darrin Winn from I.H.C., and the 1st Choice Home Healthcare and Hospice team for their loving help these past few months.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the Logan City Cemetery.

Family will meet with friends at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the "Mormon Battalion Association" in care of Clark Olsen. Lorraine was a direct descendant of an original battalion solider, Abraham Hunsaker.
