Lorraine Mary Moore

February 19, 1954 ~ October 3, 2016

Lorraine Mary Moore was born to Armond and Francis Valdez on February 19, 1954 in San Diego, California. On October 3, 2016, after the most perfect sunset, she took her last breath and was called home. She was surrounded by her family in their South Ogden home, resting peacefully after a long and brave fight with cancer.

Lori is survived by her husband and caregiver, Kurt; her two children, Bailey (Colton) Barry and Kurt Jr. “KJ”; and her sister, Patty (Jeff) Wuerstl. She was welcomed home by her parents, her mother-in-law, Lois; and her brothers, Kenneth and Dennis. She leaves behind a wealth of extended family, good friends, and neighbors who will miss the light she brought to their lives.

Lori was beautiful inside and out. She was the kind of person strangers would open up to in line at the grocery store. She was caring. She was kind. She had great taste in most things – music, friends, and shoes to name a few. She loved to read and golf and spend time with those she cared about. And she had an uncanny ability to step back and appreciate life’s beautiful moments, even when times were hard.

Lori loved her family fiercely and fought leukemia for nearly 10 years to give them as much of herself as she could. She fought to see her son graduate from college. She fought to dance with her husband at her daughter’s wedding. Her family is forever grateful for her courage and her grace. The heartbreak of her loss is crippling. But those she leaves behind should feel comfort that she is free from suffering after fighting so hard for so long.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at 2 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.
