Lorraine Burgess Ritter
July 7, 1934 ~ March 27, 2016
Lorraine Burgess Ritter, 81, of Clinton, UT went to be with her Lord and Savior on Easter Morning, March 27, 2016.
Lorraine was born to Warren and Gertrude Burgess on July 7, 1934 in Woodland, Maine.
She attended Woodland Elementary and Caribou High School. While working as a soda jerk at Newberry's Five & Dime in Maine, Lorraine met her first husband Robert Byram. After he was discharged from the service, he brought her to South Weber, UT where he was raised. Together they had two daughters, Lindy and Cindy. Robert and Lorraine divorced. She married Emmett Ritter. They later divorced.
She worked at McKay Dee Hospital where she started in housekeeping and later received training to be a scrub nurse. Her four and a half foot stature required her to stand on a stool enabling her to hand surgical tools to the doctors. Her coworkers lovingly nicknamed her "Low'raine" and inscribed that on her stool.
Lorraine is survived by her two daughters, five grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren with one more on the way. She is also survived by three sisters, Arlene York, Beulah Burgess, and Lula McCrossin; many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by both of her parents and two brothers, Lendell and Arthur Burgess.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10 a.m. at the Uintah Cemetery. Friends may visit with family on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
The family would like to thank Country Pines Assisted Living for caring for Lorraine the last four years.
