Lorraine Mower Spencer

Lorraine Mower Spencer left this mortal existence to reunite with loved ones on Saturday, June 20, 2009. She was born July 29, 1924, in Fairview, Utah. She was the ninth child of Hyrum Deloss and Catherine Ann Mills Mower. She grew up in San Bernardino, California, graduating from San Bernardino High School.

She met Leonard Spencer during the World War II when he was stationed in California. They were married in the Manti Temple April 15, 1946. Leonard passed away December 29, 2008. We rejoice in their reunion.

Mother had a beautiful alto singing voice and was often asked to sing in quartets. She sang with the Singing Mother''s Choir for many years. She would often sing to her children while traveling on vacations. We loved to hear her sing.

She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many callings including: Young Women''s President, Primary President, and Relief Society President, but her favorite calling was Secretary of the Relief Society. She served as a temple worker and Supervisor for many years, where she made many wonderful friends.

She was a volunteer typist at the Ogden Temple, from the time it opened until it was automated with computers.

She was active in genealogy, and produced many volumes of Family Journals. She made journals of all the family vacations starting with her honeymoon.

She served as a Pink Lady at the Dee and McKay-Dee Hospitals for over 21 years, including a term as President. Meticulous in her quilting, embroidery and crocheting skills, she produced many beautiful items for her home and sewed most of her children''s clothing from the time they were born. She crocheted beautiful afghans for all her children and grandchildren. She made the best tacos ever. Mother was a devoted stay-at-home mom and always put the needs of others ahead of her own.

She cared for many children over the years. They all call her, "Grandma."

She loved to play card games. She was a quick learner, with a bright mind and excelled at everything she did. Her house, yard, and cars were always immaculate. She figured out clever ways to streamline her chores, and was a skilled organizer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her infant son, one granddaughter, four sisters and four brothers. She is survived by five children: Diana (Derrill) Richards, Bonnie (Don) Hansen, Marilyn (Zane) Froerer, Janice (Dale) Slade, Mark (Christine) Spencer, 24 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren and her brother Ralph Mower.

Much love and appreciation to her daughter Diana, who put her life on hold to selflessly and faithfully care for mom these last five months. She has attended to mom''s every need with such tenderness and devotion.

Thanks to Heidi, RayLynn, Erika, Camille at IHC Hospice and Mercy from Comfort Keepers.
