Lorraine Andersen Vause

March 4, 1934 ~ January 30, 2015

Our loving Mom, Grandma Rain, and Aunt Reindeer, Lorraine Andersen Vause, 80, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 30, 2015.  She was born on March 4, 1934 to Niels J and Edith Hansen Andersen in Ogden, Utah.

Lorraine married Horace “Jay” Vause on April 9, 1953 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They spent a short wonderful 31 years together and were blessed with four children.  Jay passed away on June 15, 1984.

Lorraine was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many callings including President of the Relief Society and Primary Chorister.  She also worked at the Ogden LDS Temple.

Lorraine enjoyed square dancing, reading, and knitting hats for children.  She loved spending time with her grandchildren and watching them in their various activities. Lorraine loved going to Wendover, traveling, lunch with her friends, and attending the Andersen Family Reunions each year. Mom was a very kind, loving, and giving person.

Lorraine is survived by her children, Kent J. (Vicky) Vause, Huntsville; Lynn (Karen) Vause, Farr West; and Lana (Charlie) Bingham, Plain City; 13 grandchildren, J C, Dustin, Shelly, Khara, Sandra, Kirsten, Cortney, Katelyn, Cooper, Jacee (Eugene Oregon Mission), Denton, Bridger, and Colter; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jay; son, Kevin; grandsons, Mitch and Jacob; parents, Niels and Edith Andersen; brother, Ralph Andersen; and sister, Illene Knight.

The family expresses their appreciation for the love and tender loving care from all the staff at Quail Meadows and Leah and Vlad with AFI Hospice.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 N. Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Plain City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the American Cancer Society Utah Chapter, 941 East 3300 South, Ste 100, SLC UT 84106-3796.
