STANSBURY PARK – Lorraine Patricia Whitesides, 93, passed away Saturday, December 28, 2013 at Rocky Mtn. Care in Tooele.
She was born September 4, 1920 in Council Bluffs, Iowa the daughter of Henry Otis and Edna Emma Louisa Neimoller Wall. She was reared and educated in Missouri and resided in Murray, Utah since 1965.
Lorraine married Lenn Omer Whitesides on July 16, 1945 in Fort Lawton, Washington. Her husband died June 8, 2000.
She served in the U.S. Army as a cook during WWII in the Woman’s Army Corp. as a Staff Sgt., and received numerous medals for marksmanship, a good conduct Medal, and American Campaign Medal.
Lorraine was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She worked for the State of Utah and retired at 71 years of age.
Lorraine loved family, cooking, gardening and herbology.
Surviving are her daughter, Patricia A. (Lynn) Nelson, Stansbury Park; son, Edward Whitesides, Murray; one grandson, Sean (Candice) Nelson, and two great-granddaughters, Allexis and Khylee.
Preceded in death by her husband Lenn Whitesides, sister, Allis V. Wall and brother, Vernon Wall.
Graveside services will be held Friday, January 3, 2014 at 2 p.m. at Kaysville City Cemetery, 500 East Crestwood Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.
