Lougene Conrad left this mortal world peacefully Sunday, June 10, 2018 at home. She was the second of twin girls born to Alfred and Jesse King and the last of four children, Elton, Bill, and Verleen (3 minutes her senior).
Her favorite pastimes included riding horses, swimming, painting, drawing cartoons, and enjoying her family on their 160 acre farm in Idaho. Jessie ensured the kids were well versed in all things musical. The twins sang many duets from a young age and music was used to uplift and help others throughout her whole life.
Lougene graduated from Butte High School in Arco, Idaho. She then attended many colleges including Rick College, Brigham Young University in Provo, University of Hawaii and North Idaho College. Education was important to the Kings and each child was encouraged to pursue it. Lougene loved studying Art, Health, and Science. She graduated with a degree in Elementary Education, and later in life earned an endorsement in special education. Lougene was a wonderful teacher and well loved by her many students and her children. She served her students well by providing comic art (there were little prefab decorations to help with learning at the time), and lesson plans to meet individual students needs on all learning levels. Lougene taught school in ID, CA, and UT. She also served as a Mormon missionary for 2 years in the Netherlands for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She married Lloyd Conrad in the Idaho Falls Temple. She was blessed with two children (Lynn and Crystal) and three step-children (Lynda, David, and Diane). As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she taught seminary, Sunday school, nursery, and primary. She also served in numerous primary presidencies in various wards and stakes. She loved her family and always worked hard. She enjoyed her yard, garden, music, and using her artistic talents to teach children and her 20 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018 at 2 p.m. at the Smith Lane Ward, 1449 S. Thoroughbred Way, Kaysville, Utah. Friends may visit family Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
She will be buried at Ben Lomond Cemetery in North Ogden with her husband.
Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
