Louis W. Babcock MESQUITE, Nevada – Louis Warren Babcock, 93, our beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather, formerly of Ogden, departed this life peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Saturday, March 21, 2009. Louis was born September 19, 1915, in Chicago, Illinois, and was raised in Kanesville, Utah, later living in Ogden. A graduate of Weber State College, Louis owned many businesses throughout his life including Parkside Grocery and Babcock’s Family Stores. He also operated brokerage, real estate and motel businesses. A lifelong student of the stock market, Louis enjoyed investing. He also had many other interests and passions including gardening, playing the organ, and cooking. He loved growing beautiful flowers and encouraged his children and grandchildren to appreciate nature. Louis will be greatly missed. Surviving are three daughters and two sons-in-law, Shonnee and William Olmstead, Mesquite, NV; Marcee and Kenneth Udink, Pleasant View, UT; Beckie Jones, Ogden, UT; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is his sister, Gwen Stokes (Geoff) Garlick, St. George, UT. Louis was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Fraser. Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may call at the mortuary on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Graveside services will follow at Lindquist’s Memorial Gardens of the Wasatch, 1718 Combe Road.
