Louis Eugene Peterson

April 9, 1937 - February 18, 2018

Louis Eugene Peterson of Clearfield, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, passed away peacefully surrounded by family, at age 80, on Sunday, February 18, 2018, at Davis Hospital in Layton, Utah.

Eugene was born April 9, 1937, in Logan, Utah, the son of Lorna Mae Swenson and Louis S Peterson. He married his sweetheart (Toots) Mary Lou Melde on September 9, 1960 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they were blessed with seven wonderful children.

Eugene was a graduate of Davis High School, served an LDS mission in the Gulf States and was activated in the Army reserves to Fort Hood, Texas during the Berlin Crisis.  He was a QC inspector at Hercules for 28 years, then worked at Robert Love Heating as the vehicle fleet manager until retirement.

As a member of the LDS faith, he loved the Lord and enjoyed serving in many church callings throughout his life.

Eugene enjoyed playing the Hawaiian steel guitar, horse shoes, dancing, camping, hunting and fishing, family vacations, bowling, but most of all, time spent with family and friends.  He leaves a legacy of service, often known as the neighborhood handyman.

Eugene is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, sister Karen Salazar, brother-in-law Paul Barlow and children Troy (Mary) Peterson, Tawny (Bob) Shriber, Darren (Kris) Peterson, Kevin, Brandon (Amy) Peterson, Cherelle (Troy) Brown, Christian (Anne) Peterson, (foster daughter) LaRose, Johnson, 17 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents, sister Maureen Barlow, son-in-law Alfred Stone, and grandson Jacob Peterson.

The Family would like to thank all the medical staff at Davis Hospital ICU.

Funeral Services will be held Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 11 a.m at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 North Fairfield Rd, Layton, UT.  Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Clearfield City Cemetery.
