Lowell George Jensen

March 31, 1937 ~ November 25, 2017

Lowell George Jensen, 80, left his earthly existence on November 25, 2017 due to the effects of pulmonary fibrosis.

He was born on March 31, 1937 in Ogden, Utah, to William C. and E. Vivian (Wahlstrom) Jensen. Lowell and his identical twin, Leon, grew up together causing all kinds of mischief. Many teachers were never the same after having the twins in their classrooms. He was a graduate of Ogden High School and Weber State College. He spent the majority of his career at Weber State College and Living Scriptures where he was a director, computer programmer, and analyst.

Lowell met Carol MacArthur, his eternal companion, in 1954 and they were married on June 1, 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have been together ever since, over 61 years. One was not complete without the other. They enjoyed a lifetime together and supported one another through the joys and trials of life. He said his only regret was that he couldn’t take Carol with him when he left this earth. They were blessed with two sons, Brad and Ron, and one daughter, Sheri. His children honor him and seek to follow his example. His posterity also consists of 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren with one more arriving soon.

Lowell was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He spent many hours studying and sharing the teachings of the gospel. He served in numerous callings, including bishop and branch president. He possessed a strong testimony and love for his Lord and Savior. Lowell and Carol were able to serve a Family History Mission in St. George where he gained a love for his ancestors. They enjoyed St. George so much and made it their winter home.

Lowell was an avid sports fan and loved the New York Yankees. Whenever you visited his home, you could pretty much guarantee that some sporting event would be on television. He and Carol were able to travel to many places throughout the world. He would always have a story to tell, and you would feel better after spending time with him. He had choice friends over the years and enjoyed the time they spent together.

Lowell was a blessing to all who met and associated with him. He had the ability to listen and love unconditionally. Many people sought counsel from him and felt his love and influence. He would willingly sacrifice his own needs and desires to allow others to have their own needs met. Even in his death, he held on to allow his family to express their love for him and receive one last blessing from him. You will never meet a more kind, gentle, patient, and loving man than Lowell.

Lowell is survived by his wife, Carol; and three children, Brad (Michelle), Ron (Sandra) and Sheri (Todd) Lewis; 10 grandchildren, Cory, Kali, Angela, Amanda, Kody, Stephanie, Amber, Tyler, Ethan, and Trevor; 11 great-grandchildren; his sister, Maythel Hawley, and brother, DeVon. He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, John and Hazel MacArthur; and his twin brother, Leon.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Muskrat Springs LDS Ward, 5000 South 5900 West, Hooper. A viewing will be held Friday, December 1, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, and prior to the funeral service from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.
