Lowell E. Knight HARRISVILLE – Lowell E. Knight, died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 at his home in Harrisville. He was born November 8, 1927 in Ogden, a son of James Ammon and Ellen Burt Knight. He was the 15th child of the family. He was raised and educated in Ogden graduating from Ogden High School in 1945. He served his country with the U.S. Navy for four years. Lowell married Marie Hamblin on May 20, 1949 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Marie preceded him in death on December 19, 2008. In 1962 he established Knight Electric. He enjoyed working with his sons in the business and it is carried on by Guy Knight, Ross Knight, and Glain Knight. He retired in 1984 to serve a mission for the LDS Church. Lowell was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served nine fulltime missions and six stake missions. He also served in many callings and enjoyed working in the Scouting program as a Scoutmaster, Explorer Advisor and Lake Bonneville Advisor. He attended the National Explorer Congress in Washington DC and received the District Award of Merit in 1977. All seven of his sons earned their Eagle Scout rank. Surviving are seven sons and two daughters, Guy (Michelle) Knight, Harrisville; Ross (Becky) Knight, Pleasant View; Rich (Kristie) Knight, Harrisville; Val (Wanda) Knight, Farr West; Larry (Connie) Knight, Pleasant View; Mark (Julie) Knight, Farr West; Glain (Julie) Knight, Harrisville; Janet (Kevin) Varble, Harrisville; Denice (Earl) Laughter, Petaluma, CA; 50 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one brother, Clair Knight, Pleasant View. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at the former Harrisville Stake Center, 113 Child Avenue, Ogden, Utah. Friends may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Stake Center from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
